ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
McKenzie Intelligence Services Ltd (“MIS”) recognises that protecting the environment and addressing climate change are important responsibilities of our business. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, complying with all relevant environmental legislation, and continually improving our environmental performance as part of our business strategy and operating practices.
Responsibility
Overall responsibility for environmental performance sits with the Leadership Team. Day-to-day oversight of this policy is delegated to the Head of People; however all employees share responsibility for supporting the aims and objectives set out below.
This policy will be reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary.
Policy aims
MIS is committed to:
- Complying with all relevant environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Reducing our carbon footprint and considering climate-related impacts in our business decisions.
- Incorporating environmental considerations into procurement and supplier selection where proportionate.
- Continually improving our environmental performance through monitoring and review.
- Promoting awareness and responsible environmental behaviour among employees.
Energy and water
As a technology-led business, we recognise that our primary environmental impacts arise from office energy use, IT infrastructure, and business travel.
We will:
- Seek to reduce energy consumption across our offices.
- Switch off lights and equipment when not in use.
- Consider energy efficiency when purchasing new equipment or services.
- Promote remote and hybrid working practices where appropriate to reduce commuting-related emissions.
- Use virtual meeting technology to reduce unnecessary travel.
Where proportionate, we will review and monitor our energy usage and business travel emissions to identify opportunities for improvement.
Travel and Transportation
We will:
- Restrict travel to essential trips only.
- Encourage video conferencing and digital collaboration tools.
- Support the use of public transport, walking and cycling where feasible.
- Consider environmental impact when arranging business travel.
Procurement and Suppliers
We will:
- Consider environmental performance when selecting key suppliers, where reasonably practicable.
- Seek to work with suppliers who operate responsibly and in compliance with environmental laws.
- Avoid unnecessary purchasing and favour durable, efficient and recyclable products.
Waste and Resource Use
We will:
- Minimise the use of paper and encourage digital workflows.
- Reuse and recycle materials where possible.
- Dispose of waste through licensed and appropriate providers.
- Use environmentally responsible cleaning and refurbishment materials where practicable.
Continuous Improvement
Environmental performance will be reviewed periodically by the Leadership Team. We will seek to identify practical and proportionate improvements that reduce our environmental impact while supporting sustainable business growth.
